D.V. Sadananda Gowda urged to resolve various long-pending demands from the region

Legislators across party lines from Dakshina Kannada district listed the wishes of the people for various facilities from the Ministry of Railways to Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda here on Saturday.

Participating at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a road under bridge on Padil-Bajal Road here, the legislators wanted Mr. Gowda to create a new Railway division headquarter in Mangalore as the region was consistently being neglected by the Southern Railway.

Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Ivan D’Souza of the Congress said that people had high expectations from Mr. Gowda as he hails from the region.

They also demanded that a proposed express train between Mangalore and Bangalore run as an overnight train via Arsikere. Mr. D’Souza also wanted the Minister to enhance the Railway network in the State. A road under bridge at Jeppu Mahakalipadpu was the need of the hour, he stressed.

MLC Ganesh Karnik of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hoped that Mr. Gowda would correct the injustice done to Karnataka and Dakshina Kannada.

Mangalore City South MLA J.R. Lobo presented a list of demands from his constituency, which included handing over of the road from Kulashekara to Kannagudde to Mangalore City Corporation for its development, improvement of Kulashekar-Kongur Math Road and a railway level-crossing at Balluru Gudde.
