Kapila floods: Concern over missing youngsters

There are fears over the safety of two persons who had gone for a swim in the swelling Kapila river in H.D. Kote taluk of Mysuru district but remained untraceable on Thursday.

In the first incident, Umesh, 23, of Madapura had gone for a swim with his friend Suri. The latter returned from the riverbanks and raised an alarm over his missing friend, following which the police were informed.

Similarly, there are fears that another person, Javara Nayaka, 27, of Ejalla who took a plunge near the Hommargala bridge, has been swept away.

An eyewitness said Mr. Nayaka was initially held back by his friends when he expressed a desire to take a plunge in the river. But later, he dived into the swirling waters ayway and disappeared from sight.

Hindrance

Meanwhile, the search for a youth who was swept away in the floodwaters of the river at Nanjangud on Tuesday continued on Thursday.

According to the authorities, the search operation has been hindered by high outflow from the reservoir in H.D. Kote.
