JD(S) takes out procession

HASSAN, FEB. 26. The Janata Dal (Secular) on Thursday took out a procession in Holenarsipur town in protest against the remarks of the Urban Development Minister, D.K. Shiva- kumar, against the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda. The procession commenced from Channambika Circle and concluded near the Taluk Office. The Janata Dal (S) workers, led by the President of party's taluk unit, H.S. Virupaksha, burnt an effigy of Mr. Shivakumar at Gandhi Circle.

Addressing the party workers, Mr. Virupaksha criticised Mr. Shivakumar for his remarks and accused the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, of betraying a particular community by failing to rescue the former Minister, H. Nagappa, from the clutches of the forest brigand, Veerappan. The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the tahsildar.
