Holidays in 2004 announced

BANGALORE NOV. 13. The Central Government Employees' Welfare Coordination Committee, Bangalore, has announced the list of Union Government general holidays and restricted holidays for Karnataka offices in 2004. The general holidays are: January 15 (Makara Sankranthi), January 26 (Republic Day), February 2 (Bakrid), March 2 (Muharram), April 3 (Mahaveer Jayanthi), April 9 (Good Friday), May 2 (Milad-Un-Nabi), May 4 (Buddha Poornima), August 15 (Independence Day), August 19 (Ganesha Chaturthi), October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), October 21 (Dasara - Maha Astami), October 22 (Vijaya Dashami), November 11 (Naraka Chaturdhashi), November 15 (Id-ul-Fitr), November 26 (Guru Nanak Jayanti), December 25 (Christmas).

Restricted holidays are: January 1 (New Year's Day), January 5 (Guru Govind Singh's birth anniversary), January 16 (Pongal), January 26 (Basanta Panchami), February 6 (Guru Ravindra's birth anniversary), February 15 (Maharishi Dayanand Sawaswathi Jayanti), February 18 (Mahashivarathri), March 6 (Holi), March 21 (Ugadi), March 30 (Rama Navami), April 13 (Mesadi), April 14 (Vishu), June 19 (Rath Yatra), August 20 (Parsi New Year), August 28 (Onam), August 29 (Raksha Bandhan), August 30 (Hazrat Ali's Birthday), September 7 (Janmashtami), October 20 (Dasara - Maha Saptami), October 28 (Maharishi Valmiki's birthday), November 1 (Kannada Rajyotsava), November 12 (Deepavali and Jamat-ul-Vida), November 13 (Govardhan Puja), November 14 (Bhai Duj), November 24 (Guru Teg Bhaddur Martyrdom Day), and December 24 (Christmas Eve), according to a press release.
