Heavy rain in Bhagamandala

The district administration has opened control rooms in the district headquarters and in taluk towns to attend to complaints

MADIKERI: Moderate to heavy rainfall was reported in most parts of Kodagu district on Monday with Bhagamandala receiving the highest rainfall (93.6 mm), according to reports received here on Tuesday.

Somwarpet taluk recorded 49.8 mm rainfall, Madikeri taluk 44.8 mm and Virajpet taluk 25.4 mm since 8 a.m., Monday, to 8 a.m. of Tuesday.

However, this is far less than the previous year's tally. Madikeri taluk has received 948 mm since January till date as against 1411.7 mm received in the corresponding period last year.

The tally in Virajpet taluk this year is 923 mm against 1207 mm of the previous year and 624.1 mm in Somwarpet against last year's 946 mm.

The water level in the Harangi reservoir increased to 2,828.17 ft with an inflow of 1,577 cusecs. The water level during the same period last year was 2,844.12 ft. The maximum level of the reservoir is 2,859 ft.

The district administration has opened control rooms in the district headquarters here and in three taluk headquarter that will function round-the-clock and attend to complaints from people or plea for help.
