Hearing in Bhaskar Shetty murder case posted to July 16

The Principal District and Sessions Court on Friday posted the hearing in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case to July 16. Special Public Prosecutor, M. Shantharam Shetty, did the chief examination of S.V. Girish, who was the inspector of Manipal police station, when the murder took place.

The court also directed that the main accused in the case, Rajeshwari Shetty, her son, Navneet Shetty, and the priest, Niranjan, to be produced in the court during the hearing on July 16.

Earlier, the counsel for the accused had submitted that the the three accused were kept at the Central Prison in Bengaluru and sought their presence during the next hearing to do a detailed discussion with them.

Bhaskar Shetty, a NRI businessman, went missing from his house here on July 28, 2016, and his mother, Gulabi Shetty, lodged a missing complaint on July 29, 2016. The police arrested his wife Rajeshwari, 50, Navneet, 20, on the charge of murdering Bhaskar Shetty and destroying evidence, here on August 7, 2016.
