Funds released for horticulture

HASSAN: The National Horticulture Mission has sanctioned Rs. 2.79 crore for Hassan district under a special package to encourage growing of plantain, ginger, coca and medicinal plants.

Thanks to the initiative by former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda who represents Hassan in the Lok Sabha and district in-charge Minister H.D. Revanna, funds were released under the National Horticulture Mission.

Hassan district is a pioneer in horticulture activity and several families engage in horticulture activity in towns and villages.

According to sources in the Horticulture Department, the programme would be implemented through the District Horticulture Committee, the District Technical Committee and taluk-level committees.
