Fishermen's society nets profit of Rs. 65.1<149> lakhs

MANGALORE, AUG. 14. The Mangalore Mechanised Fishermen Primary Cooperative Society has registered a net profit of Rs. 65.10 lakh for the year <149>2003-04.

The society, which was started with share capital of Rs. 1.02 lakh from 170 members, presently has 452 <129>members and share capital of Rs. 13.92 lakh.

Its total net working capital presently is about Rs. 4.11 crore.

In a press release, Kashinath Karkera, president of the society, said that the organisation had constructed a well-equipped building at a cost of Rs. 1.2 crore at the fishing jetty here.

This was catering to needs of fishermen and its members carried out their activities as well as stayed there. The society would celebrate its silver jubilee in March next.
