Dinakar's plea against summons rejected

BANGALORE Oct. 22. The Principal City Civil and Sessions Court on Wednesday dismissed a revision petition filed by the former Director General and Inspector General of Police, C. Dinakar, challenging an order passed by an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) for his personal appearance before the court in connection with defamation cases filed by some police officers.

The order was passed by K.N. Keshavanarayana, rejecting Mr. Dinakar's plea. The VIII ACMM had ordered issuance of summons to Mr. Dinakar after taking cognisance of private complaints filed by the police officers, Jayaprakash, M.V. Murthy, and others, requesting the court to initiate defamation proceedings against Mr. Dinakar.

The complainants had stated that the references made by Mr. Dinakar in his book, Veerappan's Prize Catch: Rajkumar, against them had tarnished their image.
