College staff to continue boycott of classes

SIRSI, JULY 24. The employees of R.N. Shetty Polytechnic College have been boycotting classes since July 14 demanding that the Government clear their salary dues.

In a press release issued here, they said the Government had not paid them their salary for the past 10 months. The protest would continue till the Government met their demand, they added.

The college was one of the 27 polytechnic institutions in the taluk that received grant-in-aid from the Government, the employees said.

Though the college was supposed to get grant-in-aid from May 2003, only the salaries of June and July 2003 were released, they added.

Though the employees had brought this matter to the notice of the officials concerned, nothing had been done about it, the employees said and added that a memorandum had been submitted to the Assistant Commissioner to be forwarded to the Deputy Chief Minister.
