Christmas spirit with a difference

In the true spirit of the season, Youth for Youth Foundation in Bangalore spent a day recreating a cheerful Christmas for the children at the Angels Orphanage, Shivajinagar.

“We want these children to feel the festive cheer just like everyone else. We got one of our teachers to dress up as Santa Claus and went to the orphanage. We decorated the place and put up a Christmas tree. We celebrated with food and presents,” said Azaan Sait, Class 12 student at the Bangalore International School, who started the Foundation.

Initiative

The organisation has also initiated an Adopt Your Doppleganger programme, where the children from the orphanage were paired up with children from private schools, the sources said.

After a compatibility test, the children from the various private schools taking part in the programme will give donations to their respective partners every week and conduct special events for them at the orphanage.
