BJP stages demonstration

TUMKUR, JULY 24. Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a procession and staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Saturday against what the party leaders termed an affront to the Constitution by the Centre and the State Government.

The President of the party's Tumkur district unit, M.D. Lakshminarayana; the general secretaries, P. Krishnappa, M.B. Nandhish and B.C. Nagesh; the MP S. Mallikarjunaiah; and the MLAs S. Shivanna and Kirankumar, participated in the protest.

Mr. Nandish accused the Manmohan Singh Government of protecting "tainted" Ministers.

This was an affront to the Constitution, he charged.
