Better facilities sought for NCC cadets

PANAJI, AUG. 21. The Additional Director-General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Sanjiv Kapur, has said that NCC cadets from Goa, who come under the NCC Directorate of Karnataka and Goa, are doing well despite poor facilities.

Rear Admiral Kapur told presspersons here on Friday that Goa had around 3,000 cadets drawn from 42 educational institutions. Many of them were keen on joining the armed forces.

He noted that the NCC Directorate of Karnataka and Goa had consistently remained among the forerunners for the coveted Prime Minister's banner at the Republic Day camps in New Delhi. Of the 19 events open for competition, the directorate had bagged medals in 15 events, he said and added that of the 118 cadets in the Republic Day contingent, five were from Goa.

However, the facilities in Goa left much to be desired, Rear Admiral Kapur said. All facilities including a well-equipped air wing for training the cadets should be made available at one location.
