Ashok Chandraghatgi dead

SHIMOGA: Ashok Chandraghatgi (63), businessman and an active Rotarian, who suffered a heart attack on a train near Miraj while returning from Mumbai on Monday night, died before being admitted to hospital at Miraj. He is survived by wife and a daughter.

Chandraghatgi was actively associated with the Shimoga Rotary Mid Town Club and involved in several social welfare projects undertaken by it.

Chandraghatgi played an active role in the establishment of the Rotary Eye Bank and Pulse Polio programme.

He was also a director of the Rotary Charitable Trust.

He worked for the development of the Taranga School for the hearing impaired children.
