HASSAN: Reacting to the recent "Swabhimani Samaavesha" organised by AHINDA (Alpasankhyataru, Hindulidavaru mathu Dalitaru) in Hassan, former MP and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.K. Javare Gowda said that though organisers succeeded in "bringing" people to the convention, they failed in reaching the message and limited themselves to attacking former Prime Minister and party President H.D. Deve Gowda.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, he said that the convention will have no impact on the party in Hassan, as the allegations levelled by AHINDA leaders have only angered the people in the constituency. The allegations levelled against Mr. Deve Gowda are not baseless. They cannot attack Mr. Deve Gowda on ideological grounds, he noted. Reacting to the allegation that Mr. Deve Gowda has raised the "internal reservation" issue for the backward classes, he said that this is not the first time that the issue has been raised. Mr. Deve Gowda had raised it at a convention of the Savitha Samaja held in Hassan in January. Mr. Javare Gowda said that the issue gained importance, as Mr. Deve Gowda raised it now and he has written to Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh in this regard. Mr. Dharam Singh has sought clarification from the authorities concerned, he added. Refuting the claims of AHINDA leaders that the reservation issue has backfired, he said that the 99 sub-castes, which comes under the purview of classification 2 A, will be benefited and they will support the Janata Dal (S).
