Action against illegal sand transportation

Deputy Commissioner J. Manjunath has directed the officials concerned to book lorry owners and drivers for transporting sand illegally. Mr. Manjuanth, who was on his way to Narayanpur for a meeting to ascertain the flood situation, conducted a raid on lorries transporting sand without valid documents. The driver of a particular lorry fled the scene when the Deputy Commissioner intercepted the vehicle. Thereafter, Mr. Manjunath found sand stored in a private land near Devatkal village in Hunsagi taluk and asked the officials to seize it and book the owner of the land for storing sand illegally. He also issued directions to seize a lorry and an earthmover.
