Belgaum: A Lokayukta Police team from Bangalore raided the official residence of D.B. Naik, Chief Executive Officer of Belgaum Zilla Panchayat and in-charge Deputy Commissioner, in Visvesvaraiah Nagar here on Thursday.

The Lokayukta police in the city were not aware of the arrival of their counterparts from Bangalore, official sources said.

Sources in the office of the Superintendent of Police said that simultaneous raids were conducted at Mr. Naik’s office, official residence and his house at Vaibhav Nagar.

They said that the police would make an assessment of his movable as well as immovable assets, and also those in the name of his family members and other close relatives.

Mr. Naik, a 1983-84 batch KAS officer, has served as Commissioner of Belgaum Urban Development Authority (BUDA) for more than four years. After a short stint of four to five months as Additional Commissioner in the Office of the Regional Commissioner, he was appointed CEO of the zilla panchyat last month. Earlier, he had served as deputy CEO of Bijapur Zilla Panchayat and Commissioner of Belgaum City Corporation.

Sources alleged there had been complaints against him regarding his tenure as BUDA Commissioner.
