Hassan: The Yagachi dam, 45 km from Hassan, is full. Following torrential rainfall, there has been a heavy inflow of water into the reservoir.
ollowing threats of naxal infiltration into the dam site as it borders Chikmagalur district, the police have been placed on high alert.
Six police personnel have been deputed to ensure foolproof security at the dam site. Superintendent of Police Mr. Panduranga Rane said precautions were being taken to ensure safety in the area.
The reservoir level stands at 964.25 ft. The inflow was measured at 4500 cusecs and, the outflow at 4300 cusecs.
Members of the public have been barred from crossing the dam bridge.
Even though many tourists visit Belur often, they are unaware of the existence of the dam, which is just 3 km away from the city.
