Wide support for bandh call in Mysore

MYSORE: Various Kannada organisations and cultural and trade associations have extended their support to the State-wide bandh call given by pro-Kannada organisations on February 12, in protest against the final award given by Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

Hebbal Industrialists' Association has declared holiday for industries in Mysore district on the day. Savitha Samaja Hitarakshana Samithi, Ambarish and V. Srinivasa Prasad Fans' Association, Karnataka Auto Drivers' and Owners' Welfare Association have also extended their support to the bandh. The Jai Karnataka Auto Drivers' and Owners' Association have supported the action of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists who had ransacked the office of the Department of Information. Ursu Mandali Sangh, Kannada Kriya Samithi of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation of Mysore and Mandy divisions, Life Underwriters' Guild of India, Vegetable Middlemen Association of Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee, district unit of Dakshina Kannada Sangha, Mysore District Maratha Welfare Association, Mysore City Mini Lorry Owners' and Drivers' Association and Mysore District Druggists and Chemists Association have supported the bandh call.

Association secretary N. Narendra Babu said that in case of an emergency, people could get medicines from the Janata Bazar Drug Store, Dhanavanthri Road; B.M. Hospital, Jayalakshmipuram; Apollo Hospital, Kuvempu Nagar; Kamakshi Hospital, Saraswathipuram; Mission Hospital, Mandi Mohalla.
