Vatal’s party helps Congress win Chamarajanagar seat

Siddaramaiah’s strategy yields favourable result

CHAMARAJANAGAR: The strategy adopted by the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the former Union Minister V. Srinivas Prasad to get the support of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha in Chamarajanagar parliamentary constituency yielded favourable results to Congress candidate R. Dhruvanarayan who defeating his nearest rival A.R. Krishna Murthy of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a slender margin of 4,002 votes.

Winning the Chamarajanagar (Reserved) Lok Sabha seat was prestigious to the Congress, especially to Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Prasad as both the political veterans pressured the party high command to give ticket to Kollegal MLA Dhruvanayaran.

To realise their strategy, the Congress wanted to get the support of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha. The former Chamarajanagar MLA and Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj convened a meeting of party workers in Chamarajanagar before the polling and announced that his party was ready to support the Congress in the election.

According to Vatal Paksha sources, more than 10,000 supporters of the organisation cast their votes in favour of the Congress. The Congress leaders have thanked workers of Vatal Paksha for extending their support in the election in favour of the Congress. Mr. Nagaraj has played a vital role to help Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Prasad to prove that his outfit cannot be ignored in the region.
