GULBARGA: Burglars broke into a house in Santosh Colony in Gulbarga city on Monday night and made away with cash, gold ornaments, silver articles and other valuables worth around Rs. 20 lakh.

The police said that no one was at home when the burglary took place as the family had gone on a pilgrimage to Tuljapur in Maharashtra.

Forensic experts who inspected the house obtained fingerprints from the scene of the crime. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service in the morning.

However, they lost the scent a little distance away from the house.

The owner of the house has been identified as Ashok Ambure, who is working as a doctor in the taluk general hospital in Jewargi town. A case has been registered in the Ashok Nagar police station.
