Tribal people not to be evicted: Karandlaje

Chikmagalur: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and Mysore district in-charge Shobha Karandlaje has said the Union Government should coordinate with the State Governments to arrive at a solution to naxal menace in the country. She was speaking after inaugurating a residential school for Scheduled Tribes at Menasinahadya in Koppa taluk on Monday. The project was taken up at a cost of Rs. 1.27 crore.

Ms. Karandlaje said tribal people would not be evicted from the Kudremukh National Park. The State Government had not ubmitted any proposal in this regard to the Union Government, she added. Ms. Karandlaje wanted people to teach their children to live in peace.

Secretary of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Ravi Kumar promised the residents of the village that roads and bus facilities would be made available to them.

D.N. Jeevaraj, Chief Whip in the Legislative Assembly, urged the villagers to visit the residential school regularly and ensure its upkeep.
