Tourism Department to appoint 68 staff

BELLARY: The State Government is planning to appoint 68 officers including 12 from the Karnataka Administrative Service, in order to strengthen the Tourism Department, its Minister G. Janardhan Reddy has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Reddy said that as per the new tourism policy, the department had come out with several new projects such as introducing heli-tourism, infrastructure in the coastal and Malnad circuits as well as the development of important tourist places in various districts.

“A sum of Rs. 250 crore has been set aside in order to help develop important tourist places in the districts as well as to create better infrastructure,” he said and added that with that in mind, many files relating to private investments in the tourism sector were being cleared quickly by the Government.
