HASSAN: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said the alliance forged with the Bharatiya Janata Party had affected the secular image of the Janata Dal (Secular).

Addressing presspersons at the taluk stadium in Arasikere, he said he would focus on strengthening the party after he handed over power to the BJP. When presspersons asked him as to whether he had any regrets about the alliance with the BJP, he said he had none.

At a public function in Ramanathapuram on Sunday, JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda, who represents Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, said the present coalition Government had not come up to his expectations, but appreciated Mr. Kumaraswamy’s efforts to ensure progress despite the problems of keeping the coalition going.

Ruled out

The Chief Minister also said statements issued by Ministers D.T. Jayakumar and Iqbal Ansari that he ought to continue as Chief Minister were personal. He ruled out forming an alliance once again with the Congress to form a Government in the State.
