SHIMOGA: The Rotary Youth Centre of the Shimoga Rotary Club has organised an “Udyoga Mela” in association with the National Education Society and the Kuvempu University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau at the Acharya Tulasi National Commerce College here from October 26 to 28.

Leading IT companies, small-scale industries and financial institutions will hold counselling, interviews and selection process before issuing the job offers during the mela.

The mela is open to graduates from all disciplines, including technical departments, with proficiency in English and communication skills.

Final year degree students will be selected for job placement by a few companies. The Hewlett-Packard will hold an exclusive selection process for the job of technical assistants on October 26.

All the companies, including Hewlett-Packard, will participate in the selection process on October 27 and 28. Registration counters will be opened on all the days of the mela.

The registration fee is fixed at Rs.100.

The Shimoga Rotary Youth Centre has so far organised three job melas.

As many as 2,100 candidates participated in the job mela held in 2005 out of which 598 were selected while out of 1,420 candidates participating in the second job mela held in 2006, 710 were selected. According to the organisers of the job mela, final year students of B.Sc. will be given training if selected by the leading companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Hindustan Computers Ltd.
