Bangalore: Three boys aged below 14 who were seen promoting a retail chain were rescued by volunteers of Child Rights Trust on Friday.

Nagasimha of CRT told The Hindu that their volunteers noticed these children holding placards of the retail chain at Basaveshwara Circle.

“They were clearly below 14 years. We immediately contacted the High Grounds Police Station and rescued the children,” he said.

Mr. Nagasimha said the children were now under the custody of BOSCO and would be produced before Child Welfare Committee soon. “We were able to get hold of the agent too. The children, from what we learn, are from Gulbarga. They are paid minimum wages and are not given breaks. Their job is to stand at junctions holding placards of the retail chain. We are not sure if the retail chain knows about employment of children for promotion,” he said. He said that when taken to the police station, the children claimed to be over 14 years.
