Bangalore:While premises selling liquor must close by 11.30 p.m., eateries have another half hour till midnight to down their shutters.

However, eateries around the airport, bus stand and railway station are permitted to function all night.

The deadline for selling liquor is set under the Excise Act, while restrictions on eateries come under the Police Act, which also governs places of public entertainment such as discotheques.

According to an Excise Department official, entertainment is disallowed on premises where liquor is served.
