Swamiji urges people to contribute to relief fund

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A sum of Rs. 13 lakh was raised towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs. 41 lakh committed for the purpose during a padayatra taken out in Chamarajanagar town on Monday.

So far, various organisations and political parties in Chamarajanagar district have contributed Rs. 23.54 lakh towards the relief fund.

The padayatra was led by Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Math. District in-charge Minister H. Halappa and MLAs and leaders of various political parties participated in the padayatra.

Chairman of Jungle Lodges and Resorts Mallikarjunappa has contributed Rs. 5 lakhtowards the fund.The swamiji appealed to people to contribute generously to provide help to the flood affected.

Deputy Commissioner Manojkumar Meena has said that a target has been set to raise Rs. 1 crore from the district towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
