Students take Green Oath

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: More than 200 students of the S.J. College of Engineering took a Green Oath here on Friday in their endeavour to be environmentally sensitive and responsible citizens.

At a function organised by the Environmental Engineers Association, the students pledged to minimise their consumption of natural resources, spread awareness about global warming and help protect the environment.

An initiative of the student community of the Department of Environmental Engineering, the Green Oath was administered by association secretary M. Brahmishton and college principal B.G. Sangameshwar. The Green Oath was part of the weeklong environmental awareness drive and also included a poster exhibition highlighting the negative impact of global warming, hazards of plastic and what individuals could do to help protect the environment.

Interestingly, the poster exhibition was conducted at a hut made of recyclable materials.
