Software engineer dies of A(H1N1)

BANGALORE: A 31-year-old software engineer who was working with Hewlett Packard died of A(H1N1) complication at Lakeside Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Confirming the death, hospital medical director H. Paramesh told The Hindu that the deceased, a native of Tiruchi, was admitted to the hospital with extensive pneumonia on August 28. His throat and nasal swabs were sent for test on August 29 and the reports confirming that he tested positive for virus were received on Tuesday, he said.

“The patient was in critical condition when he came to us and we immediately put him on ventilator. His demand for oxygen was increasing and he succumbed to the virus on Tuesday.” Dr. Paramesh said the body, which was handed over to the parents, was covered properly to ensure that the virus did not infect those carrying it.
