Shimoga district police gets award

Shimoga: Shimoga district stood second in the State with regard to prevention of crimes in 2009. In recognition of the achievement Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa gave away a a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, a citation and a memento to Superintendent of Police S. Murugan at a programme held in Bangalore.

And Mr. Murugan has been elevated to the grade of Senior Superintendent of Police.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Murugan said that the district scaled this height during the Crime Prevention Week held in 2009. Several cases had been solved using modern technology. Incidentally, Bangalore won the first prize. — Special Correspondent
