Seven arrested, trucks seized

GULBARGA: The Gulbarga district police on Thursday busted a sand-mining racket in Yadgir taluk, seized seven trucks and arrested seven persons in this connection.

The police said here that the seized trucks were worth Rs. 35 lakh. Four trucks were seized near Saidapur and the others at Ramasamudra village in the taluk. They were being used to transport sand illegally from the bed of the Bhima. The police are on the lookout for others involved in the racket. Two cases were booked in Saidapur and Yadgir police stations. The arrested were remanded to judicial custody. — Special Correspondent
