Sakshar Bharat in Bellary

As many as 1.86 lakh women would be made literate in Bellary district under the Sakshar Bharat 2012, according to G. Janardhan Reddy, Minister for Tourism and in-charge of Bellary district. Speaking after inaugurating a district-level programme, organised by the Karnataka State Saksharata Mission, in association with Lok Shikshana Samiti and the district administration, here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said that the programme would make around 2.60 lakh women in rural areas literate in the district. B. Shivappa, Deputy Commissioner, said that the programme was for 30 months. N. Rudragouda, Manjamma, panchayt president and vice-president, respectively, Kaggal Veeresh, chairman of Standing Committee on Education, Havalagi Anjinappa, president of the Taluk Panchayat, were present.
