Rs. 4.46 crore for improving infrastructure in Madikeri

Madikeri: The State Government and the State Finance Commission have sanctioned Rs. 4.46 crore to develop infrastructure and improve civic amenities in the Madikeri city municipal limits, an official press release said here on Wednesday.

Of this, the State Government share is Rs. 2.03 crore and the Finance Commission has contributed Rs. 2.43 crore, according to Commissioner, Madikeri City Municipal Council (CMC), D.H. Raya.

The first instalment of the grant would be released soon and two more instalments would be released in a phased manner, he said.

Mr. Raya said that discussions would be held with Madikeri MLA K.G.Bopaiah, Administrator of the CMC, who is the Deputy Commissioner, to finalise the works. They included construction and repair of drainages, drinking water supply, concrete and other roads and market yards.

An action plan would be prepared later and approval of the Administrator would be obtained. Tenders would be invited and works would be allotted in the next stage, Mr. Raya added.
