Rs. 39 crore for ‘Amrutha’ scheme

BANGALORE: The State Government has earmarked Rs. 39 crore this financial year for the newly launched “Amrutha” scheme, which will benefit 29,000 Devadasis, widows and destitute women. The Animal Husbandry Department will give a subsidy of Rs. 10,000 to Devadasis, widows and destitute women to buy milch cows or buffaloes under the scheme. The department official held a meeting on implementation of the scheme a few days ago and requested the nationalised banks to grant loans of up to Rs. 10,000 to the beneficiaries. — Special Correspondent
