River linking: BJP to launch campaign

TUMKUR: The BJP’s Tumkur district president and Kallambella MLA, K.S. Kirankumar said here on Wednesday that his party would campaign for linking of major rivers in the country.

Presiding over the BJP workers conference, Mr. Kirankumar said, “During the prime ministership of A.B. Vajpayee, several major roads were linked by implementing the multi-crore Golden Quadrilateral Project of the National Highways Authority of India. Mr. Vajpayee would have started work on the linking of major rivers also if he had continued in office.”

Mr. Kirankumar said the BJP workers would undertake a campaign for linking major rivers for the benefit of the people in the arid regions such as central Karnataka. The party’s Kallambella block president, Bommanna, its Sira taluk president, R.V. Puttakamanna, said the former Home Minister, L.K. Advani, enhanced the prestige of the country in the international arena by his “bold decisions against global terrorism.”
