Residents complain of lack of streetlights, water scarcity

`500-metre road had not been asphalted' Anilkumar promises to take action

SHIMOGA: Residents of the Kuvempu Extension Area took a delegation to Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Administrator T.K. Anilkumar here on Saturday seeking basic amenities in their area.

In a memorandum submitted to him, they said their area, formed in 1980, had a population of more than 3,000 and was part of the City Municipal Council.

Basic amenities

They said basic amenities such as drinking water and streetlights had not been provided and the 500-metre road had not been asphalted.

The area continued to be neglected even though they had been paying municipal tax and water tax regularly.

Assurance

Mr. Anilkumar assured the residents of prompt action after consulting the officials concerned.

The delegation was led by Gangadharapppa, Krishnamurthy, Lakshmipati, Shivakumar, Prabhu, Gayathri Nataraj, P. Suma and Manjula.
