Ration cards to all by January-end: Acharya

Udupi: Home Minister V.S. Acharya said on Saturday that the Government will provide ration cards to all eligible people in the State by January-end.

He was speaking at the janaspandana, the public contact programme, organised by the district administration at Perdoor village in Udupi district.

Dr. Acharya said that the Government had released Rs. 5 crore each to Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts for repair of roads that come under the Department of Fisheries. The Government had set aside Rs. 8,952 crore for education. It had been proposed to construct about two lakh houses for the poor in the present fiscal, he said. A vented dam would be built at Kalangala in Bairampalli village at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakh. Officers from the Revenue Department from Bangalore would be visiting Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts within 15 days to sort out the problems related to land ownership there and to facilitate simplification of revenue records, Mr. Acharya said. Dr. Acharya distributed certificates of “Sandhya Surakasha” and other schemes.
