Quality assurance: task force at district level proposed

Chairman of the Task Force on Quality Assurance in Public Construction C.S. Vishwanath has said that the task force had proposed setting up of district-wise task force to monitor and ensure quality in the works taken up at the district level.

He was presiding over the valedictory ceremony of the two-day seminar and exhibition on quality assurance organised by the Task Force in Dharwad on Tuesday. Mr. Vishwanath said it would be difficult for the task force to monitor the construction work across the State. There were several issues and problems pertaining to execution of works in different departments and to sort out the same it had been proposed to hold workshops for each department.

During the two-day seminar several issues with regard to quality and coordination had come up and steps would be taken to sort them out. Member-Secretary of the task force Ravindranath said suggestions received during the two-day seminar would be implemented. He said once the district-level task forces were set up, visits to places where quality works had been undertaken would be arranged. Mr. Ravindranath said the onus was on the engineers to change the public opinion about engineers. Around 600 engineers participated in the two-day event.
