Probe sought into death of schoolboy

Staff Correspondent

Raichur: The district units of the Student Federation of India (SFI) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) have demanded a thorough probe into the death of a boy at a school run by the Karnataka Welfare Trust in Raichur.

They have also demanded criminal cases against all concerned, including the management of the trust.

In a memorandum to the district administration on Wednesday, the student bodies said that Vrushab (5), an LKG student, died of asphyxiation after he accidentally slipped into an open septic tank at a school run by the trust in Raichur on Tuesday.

This was due to lack of safety on the school premises. Preliminary investigations had proved that the trust authorities had failed to cover the septic tank.

The boy slipped into it while playing.

This could have been avoided if precautions had been taken by the management.

Both SFI and DYFI demanded a thorough probe into the incident .
