Pre-counselling programme: registration gets under way

Guidance session to be held in Kannur on June 9

KANNUR: The Hindu-EducationPlus has begun registration for a guidance-cum-orientation programme scheduled to be held in Kannur on June 9 for students seeking admission to professional courses through the government's online counselling process.

The programme titled ‘Courses & Choices - Sessions on the Professional Streams and More' will be held at Hotel Royal Omars here on June 9 morning. The guidance- cum- orientation programme is being held in Kannur for the first time.


The programme will feature presentations by a panel of experts from engineering and medical colleges who will guide the students and their parents on the strategies to be adopted while appearing for the online seat allotment process being conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations.

The exhaustive presentations will also guide the students to see a wide spectrum of career options as well as the courses available.

The experts will also take questions from the participants on the courses, counselling process and career, among others.

The students participating in the programme will be provided a comprehensive handbook carrying information that gives an overview of the courses and trends in the professional education sector.

The guidance- cum- orientation programme being held here forms part of a series of similar programmes scheduled in different parts of the State.

The initiative which began in the State seven years ago is being held as part of The Hindu's focus on the area of education.

It is now being extended to the towns of Kannur, Manjeri and Thiruvalla.

In Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, the programme includes day-long sessions.

Registration fee

The registration fee for those participating in the programme being held at Hotel Royal Omars is Rs.50. Those willing to participate can get the registration forms at the office of The Hindu, A-13 (second floor), R.P. Complex, Near Ashoka Hospital here (Phone: 0497-2760490).

They can also provisionally register their names by sending an email to calicutcounselling@thehindu.co.in.
