Police to close down snooker outlets

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Commissioner of Police Shankar M. Bidari has issued directions to close down all snooker outlets operating in the city without obtaining licence from the police. The direction comes in the light of murder of 19-year-old Basavaraj at a snooker club in Sanjaynagar on Monday evening. Basavaraj had a fight in the club where he had gone with his friends. He is said to have abused them when asked to pay Rs. 500 in a game.

Mr. Bidari told presspersons on Tuesday the snooker outlets were places of public amusement and hence they needed to take licence under the Karnataka Police Act
