Staff Correspondent

TUMKUR: The Tumkur District Superintendent of Police, Harsha P.S., said here on Tuesday that the police had tightened vigil in the district after a farmer was killed in police firing in northern Karnataka earlier in the day.

Dr. Harsha said “one hundred per cent fool-proof vigil” had been put in place at Sira, where six farmers were killed in police firing on October 28, 2008.

He has directed the Deputy Superintendents of Police in all the five police divisions in the district to accord high priority to all matters related to farmers.
