M.S. Veda gets ‘Infosys Literary Award’

HUBLI: Writer M.S. Veda has said that critics should come out of the matrix of male domination before analysing the works of women writers.

She was speaking after being honoured with the “Infosys Literary Award” here on Saturday.

The Uttar Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha and Infosys Foundation, Bangalore, have jointly instituted the award. Ms. Veda said people should stop viewing women as backward and weak.

Critics should analyse their writings objectively before pronouncing a judgement, she added.

G.M. Hegade spoke on Ms. Veda’s award-winning novel “Jaya.”

Critic Giraddi Govindraj said the novel presented a feminist perspective through its protagonist, Draupadi.
