To meet party’s national leaders today

HUBLI: A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation, led by MP from Dharwad North Pralhad Joshi, will meet the party’s national leaders in New Delhi on Monday to apprise them of the feelings of the people of the region on denial of a ministerial berth to the former Minister Jagadish Shettar.

Floor leader in the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Ashok Jadhav told presspersons here on Sunday that the decision was taken at an emergency meeting held on Sunday.

Mr. Jadhav who is also a member of the State executive committee of the BJP, said the council members had dropped the idea of resigning to their posts after their discussion with Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in Bangalore on the day after the swearing in ceremony.

Since the Chief Minister had clarified that the party’s national leadership had decided on the Ministers, a decision to take a delegation to New Delhi was taken, Mr. Jadhav said.

Mr. Jadhav said soon after the arrival of Mr. Shettar to Hubli on Sunday, workers had become emotional and in order to avert any untoward incident immediately an emergency meeting was held to decide the next course of action.

He appealed to the party workers not to become emotional over the issue and remain calm.

He said the delegation would meet the party’s national president Rajnath Singh and general secretary Arun Jaitley and BJP leader from the State H.N. Ananth Kumar would accompany them. The need for making Mr. Shettar a Minister and the feelings of the people in the region would be conveyed to the party’s leadership, he said.

Mr. Jadhav said that the local BJP leaders were confident that the party’s leadership would meet their demand. He said that in case the response of the party’s leadership was in the negative, they would meet again to decide the next course of action.
