No business ties with Chacko: Autul Rao

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Autul Rao has said he has no business partnership with Joseph Chacko, who has been arrested by the Bangalore police in cases related to cheating of investments made by Non-Resident Indians.

In a clarification to a news item titled “NRI arrested in realty scam” published in these columns on June 18, Autul Rao said he was the general power of attorney holder of the NRIs who had invested in the construction of Crown Plaza International Hotel and Resorts at Hennur, which is a project of Chacko. These investors had lodged a complaint with the Hennur police.

Stating that there are no cases related to the Crown Plaza International, Autul Rao said the Crown Plaza Owners Association entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Chacko on April 7, 2008 and settled the matter amicably.

“As a result, the cases against Joseph Chacko have been quashed by the High Court of Karnataka on November 3, 2008,” Autul Rao said.
