HASSAN: Minority leaders led a massive protest rally in Chennarayapatna, 45 km from Hassan, on Friday against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal. Hundreds of Muslims after performing prayers at the Chowk Masjid, Jamia, Mustaf, Bilal and Ivory Mosques, took out a procession from Bagur Road.

The procession passed through B.M. Road, Navodaya Circle, and New Bus Stand. Protesters staged a "rasta roko" at K.R. Circle. Traffic on the Bangalore-Mangalore National Highway came to standstill for more than half hour. Protesters held empty pots all through the procession.

Leaders Sirajuddin, Vazir Sab, Abdul Adi, Arif, Afsar and Liyakhat Ali said the tribunal's judgment was unscientific and detrimental to the interests of Karnataka.

They presented a memorandum to tahsildar D.P. Venkatesh.
