Mobile phones stolen

MANGALORE: Seventy-eight top-end mobile phones worth Rs. 7.69 lakh have been reportedly stolen from the showroom of an electronic consumer goods on K.S. Rao Road here on Friday night. According to a complaint lodged by Derick Joshua with Mangalore North (Bunder) police station, 32 Motorola, 38 Nokia, and seven Samsung and one Sony Ericsson phones have been stolen.

Additional Superintendent of Police B.S. Lokesh Kumar visited the spot and said a duplicate key might have been used to open the shutters. The dog squad and finger print experts could not find any clue. Police are investigating.

Seized

Uppinangady police intercepted a jeep allegedly transporting liquor at Aranasinamakki near Hathyadka village and recovered 480 bottles of whisky (180 ml.each) valued at Rs. 14,300 and Rs. 3,095 in cash from Narayana Gowda, Manoj and Sundar, the accused. Police have seized the jeep valued at Rs. 1 lakh. A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station.
