Last meeting of municipal body held

At the concluding monthly meeting of town municipality in Belur on Wednesday, councillors, cutting across party lines, expressed their dissatisfaction over the lack of cooperation from officers. They also criticised the Chief Officer for not taking any action on the resolutions passed during the previous meeting.

New team

This was the last meeting of the present body, which completes two-and-a-half years on August 14, after which a new president and vice-president will be elected. President B.N. Chandrasekhar presided over the meeting.

B.L. Dharme Gowda who initiated the debate wanted to know what action was taken on the decision made over the previous meeting to blacklist contractors for not starting works on time.

‘Work started'

The Chief Officer defended saying action was not taken as all works have been started. President and vice-president Jayasri Gururaj complimented councillors for their cooperation in conducting meetings and also in the development of Belur town.
