Media makes Sriramulu squirm

Minister for Health B. Sriramulu had a tough time answering questions at a press conference here on Thursday.

He was unable to provide convincing answers to questions on his absence from the State capital at a time when there was a spurt in dengue and chikungunya cases.

This was a first time in several days that the Minister was interacting with the media here, as he had been away in Bellary organising “Swabhimani Yatra” to counter the Congress padayatra.

The Minister had no answer when it was pointed out that he had not visited any hospital recently though he had made time to visit the Central jail in Bangalore. Uncomfortable over the media grilling, the Minister sought to shift the blame on other departments for the outbreak of diseases.

Left with no answers to questions, the Minister kept repeating that civic agencies, who had been assigned the task of maintaining cleanliness, were equally responsible for the spread of diseases such as chikungunya, malaria and dengue during the monsoon.
